Vintage "Newtone" pottery Vase

Vintage "Newtone" pottery vase, handcrafted in Sydney. Small in size, but quite perfect for a posy of flowers.

A 1930s Vintage Australian Newtone Vase. The drip glaze has been used to create this attractive flowing pattern, by layering different shades of cream to brown, to create depth and complexity in the glaze. This lovely collectable vase could also be useful to hold pens and pencils in the office.

The "Newtone" brand name was used from the 1930s and continued till the late 1940s, during this time a large range of decorative vases was produced in a great variety of shapes and colour. Newtone Art Ware was a brand name used by The Bakewell Pottery, who operated in Sydney from 1884 to 1955.

The quality of the brand is testament to pieces which are still treasured by collectors to this day.
