I had first visited Morocco in 1976 and was fortunate to have had several return visits over the years. A Birthday trip to Morocco in 2016 with my family, inspired me to explore business opportunities there, so I resigned from a corporate role and my new life began. Initially selling the Moroccan handicrafts through markets predominantly on the Northern Beaches in Sydney, an opportunity arose to move into a shop site within The Potts Point Galleries, eight years ago.
Over time the business has evolved from selling Moroccan Ottomans and Rugs, Dowry Chests and Tajines, to a focus on Moroccan handcrafted Jewellery, Ceramics and the exquisite Thuya Wood Boxes.
I still continue to travel to my beloved Morocco each year and the joy of exploration and discovery of treasures there, will I hope bring me back for many years to come.
The business has developed, with Covid and Lockdown being a factor in exploring other retail opportunities. The Jewellery collection has also expanded, to include a wonderful selection of Baltic Amber; Pearls; Chinese Jade and also Colombian Tagua Nut.
Vintage Australian ceramics and English porcelain and silverware have been introduced; stunning Lamp bases with hand embroidered Lampshades; Mirrors and Artworks; and an extensive collection of vintage Asian decorative pieces.
There is an exciting selection of vintage Buddha and Guanyin, in bronze and brass, carved in wood and resin. Cloisonne vases and trinket boxes, Imari plates and blue and white China; old Snuff bottles and Brassware etched with Dragons. New ceramics and glassware add to the collection at Potts Point.
Another retail opportunity presented itself, to also expand into Southern Antiques at Kogarah in 2023. Today "Shop 21 within Southern Antiques" continues to thrive, as does Shop 21 within The Potts Point Galleries.
The selection of treasures represented here on the website is just a soupçon of what is available. Do feel free to email if there is something you are searching for, in the decorative or jewellery line, as it may well be found amongst the collections.
Thank you for your interest and I hope you find a little piece of Morocco, or an interesting Objet d’Art, to add to your collection.
